Once you arrive in Toulouse all you will be taken care of during your time on the pilgrimage. Starting with Supper as a group on the evening of the 14th and including a celebration dinner on the 21st and a continental breakfast on the morning of your departure, your meals are included. We will arrange for one of our team to meet you at the Toulouse airport or main station and you will be taken to the picturesque town of Castres, our starting point for the walk. Cost is $1280 and covers food, lodging, on ground transportation in Toulouse and during the pilgrimage.
Information available as it develops. We will be walking approximately 10-15 miles a day with easy to moderate terrain. The Arles way of the Camino de Santiago stretches from the Mediterranean through the Pyrenees and into Spain then merging with the Aragon way.
Our pilgrimage will take us from Castres to Toulouse walking much of the way along the towpath of the Canal du Midi and taking us through small towns and villages along the way. While we avoid the Pyrenees there are still elevation changes and walking will be moderate. A water bottle will be required and various refilling opportunities will be provided during you daily walk.
Each morning and evening we will gather for a time of reflection, mediation and biblical insight by Sarah Bournes. Originally from Southern California, Sarah has lived in West Philadelphia, Redding, CA, Colorado Springs, and now New York City! Sarah is on pastoral staff at Hope Midtown in NYC, and her previous 15 years of full-time ministry included urban youth work, poverty and justice services, university discipleship, non-profit leadership, and missionary care. She is completing her Masters of Divinity in Inter-Cultural Studies at the Alliance Theological Seminary in Manhattan.
Breakfast will be provided in the lodging or just prior to starting the trail and lunch will be part of the walk. Dinners will be arranged to give you a French culinary experience as well as ensure you are stocked for energy the next day.
Each day you will be given different insights into French religious history as well as current needs and happenings in the local churches with emphasis on praying for the work of God’s kingdom here in France. As we arrange the pilgrimage, we hope to introduce you to local pastors, Christ followers and others along the journey.
Arrive to Toulouse Airport or Toulouse Matabiau Train Station on May 14th before 6:00 PM (18h00) if you arrive earlier in the day you may have more time to explore Castres before the rest of the group arrives.
Arrange departing transportation on the 22nd of May. Our last day of walking will be the 21st with a night of celebration planned for that evening.
You are free to stay in France either before or after the pilgrimage but if you chose that option Envision France will end their time with you at check out time of the hotel and you will be responsible for the remainder of your time.
